Review
2005-11-07 - good vibrations submitted by heat lightningI'd agree with everyone who said it was quite a show. I've never felt or heard the kind of buzz that this crowd had going. Someone else wrote that Bono was saying "Amazing" about the roar of the crowd, and it was pretty incredible. (Here's the obligatory establish-my-credentials part of the review: a fan since '81 but never caught a show, inexplicably, until the Elevation tour. Saw 2 shows on that one and two on this one.) The show I saw after 9/11 was damned good, they played Out of Control with some fire and people's emotions were pretty raw. This show, though, was powerful in another way. The Edge is a freak of nature and is playing fantastically. He just ripped this whole show. I thought Bono's voice sounded great and the way they get going to a crescendo on some of those songs, especially the slower ones from the new record, snaps you to attention. On a few songs I noticed people losing a little bit of attention then when they cranked it up people were right back into it. And, they closed with an epic "Bad." I'd seen them play it live in 2001 but sort of in a medley with Wild Horses. This time, it was all by itself and just tore the roof off the sucker. I don't think there's a better song live in any band's repertoir. This show was so good that I'm trying to figure out how I can see another show on this tour. back
