Review
2005-11-03 - ...sound bouncing off of Staples metallic walls. The show was awesome, but Staples Center's horrible accoustics prevented the show from being unforgetable. Our seats were facing the stage, a couple of rows up from the GA floor. Bono's voice was too loud and too sharp. Drums and bass very muddy. The Edge's guitar play has lot of reverb and effects on it anyway, so that didn't sound that bad bouncing off of Staples metallic walls.
We saw U2 in Anaheim during the 1st leg of the tour from almost the exact same angle and distance (I think) and the accoustics in the Anaheim pond were near to perfect.
Saw Prince last year in Staples and then too the sound was way below average. I should have known better before going to Staples again.
I would highly advise to skip Staples Center for any music gigs. Unless anyone else thinks different.
But still the concert last night was really freakin' awesome.
Now on to the Stones in the Hollywood Bowl and after that Jamiroquai in the Wiltern. Both magnificent venues!
Take care!
