Review

2005-11-02 - The 2nd Enlightenment submitted by Alana

U2 came on.
Bono came out. I could feel his persona leaking into my body as though he was radioactive.
He introduced everyone, except for The Edge and said:
"Six strings and an IQ of 250. Who is this man?"
Immediately, a crowd of what seem liked a million die-hard fans screamed "The Edge"
We repeated it again.
Right there, it changed my life. Before Bono even began to sing.

I was about a foot away from the cat walk, where Bono and The Edge spent a good part of their time.
At one point, Bono stood right in front of the section I was in.
Then all of a sudden he leans out some how, placing his whole entire upper body into the crowd.
And at that point, I touched Bono.

The concert proceeded and in their second encore, this guy from the crowd get's Bono's attention.
"I CAN PLAY"
Everyone in the crowd doubted Bono would get back to him, but he did.
"Do we have an extra guitar around?"
They sang Stuck in a Moment you Can't Get Out Of, and in that time, the amazing men backstage came up with a guitar.

They pulled the guy out of the crowd, he was cute. Indian or something.
And they played Angel of Harlem.
At the end, the guy from the crowd and Bono exchanged sun glasses.

By the third encore, yes. I said third.
They sang '40'.
The way they exited, I'll never forget.

First it was Bono, he put his hands over his eyes as though he was blind or crying, and then went Adam, then The Edge, and all that was left is Larry on drums.
Let us not forget that it was Larry that started that band, and it is he who gets least publicity.

He played the drums softly to the crowd repeating what Bono had last said. Then he stopped. Everyone sang louder. Then he played an unexpected (well, to us) last solo, and walked off. Everyone was still singing, even though the lights came back on.
