Review
2005-10-26 - U2 - Palace of Auburn Hills, MI, 10-26-05 submitted by cqlinkAfter a hard rocking start, Bono flubbed two songs and began sending the audience to the consession areas at the mid-point of the show. He and the band recovered nicely, however, and got the crowd back on its feet during the last 1/3 of the show and through the encores.
A major opportunity exists for the band in keeping everyone in tune. Venues such as those found in and around the Detroit area want to rock and dance. When the band gets everyone on their feet, they need to work on sustaining the beat.
In this respect, Mr. Bono will need to develop his skills as a bandleader. The 20,000 member choir at the Palace wanted to do a better job with the backing vocals but were cut off on occasion.
In all, this was one of many solid performances by the group and once U2 tweaks their ability to lead a large group, it's fairly cetain they will play to a much larger audience. back
