Review

2005-10-18 - WOW submitted by Jim

I have been to 17 u2 shows in my 29 years and I cant believe this latest show ranks far ahead as the best show I have ever seen. Something was in the air from the beginning. Bono must have rested all day because he was a man possessed last night. Was the Edge actually jumping around? I am still in a bit of awe to be honest, so please bear with me if I tend to ramble.
City of Blinding lights.....unbelievable as usual. great to hear Bono sing...In the city...of brotherly loooove.
Vertigo...crazy energy
Elevation.....Bono needed water already.....not a favorite of mine but great to keep the crowd roudy.
I will Follow.....energitic.....in your face...crowd hasn't taken a breath yet.
right into Electric CO.......fast in your face rock and roll....the Edge is now officially on fire and I think people are stunned like we were suckered with a quick Ali left hook in the first round.
Still havent found......beautiful....give the crowd and band a little break and a great sing alone classic tune.
Beautiful day...slowly becoming the best song to sing along to and never disappoints.
Miracle drug. Great to hear this introduction after reading about if for a while now. The Edges space ship actually landed in North Dublin.
Sometimes. beautiful and admittadely I always doubt Bono will hit the notes he needs to and I am wrong everytime. Unbelievable emotional again and just purly beautiful.

Here the show falls into a bit of predictability.
2 things do stand out for me here. I have been in this arena for sixers playoffs, flyers stanly cups and other concerts. This place has NEVER been louder than after the band finished streets. Absolutely deafening and you could barly hear yourself think. Bono again looks almost amazed and askes so This is a Monday night in Philadelphia?
During one we do get Hear me calling lord? hear us call...."I think" Did I dream this? maybe someone else can confirm this. If it did happen this is the first time I ever heard this live and I am 100% sure I loved it!!! Knocking at your doooorrr!!!!

Accustic walk on? I love the full band version but this was a treat and Bono and the Edge ruled the stage together. Very cool!

Fast cars rocked but Imafraid it lost some people. Saving grace was that thay absolutely rocked this song. Bono and Edge doing a Mexican hat dance of sorts. great live song....Admittadely I wish i knew the words better but I got the encore vibe up again.

Then it happened...
I hear Bono say "We are looking for a guitar player." Im thinking...cool...there actually going to pull someone up on stage from the crowd. What?? Is that?? BRUUUUUUUUCCCEEEEEEE!!!! You would think the dallas cowboys were in town getting bood out of the stadium. Agh Philly's adopted son whos orange and black banner hangs proudly from the rafters of this very stadium. Bruse Springsteen 35 Philadelphia sellouts. The place is going crazy, Bono is running around like a kid on Christmas morning smiling from ear to ear. People get ready with the lyrics changed im sure. It turned into a ten minute jamming love fest untill Bono proudly puts his arm around Patty and walks off stage to Bruse jamming with edge and looking around like "Did that little man just leave with my woman?" Bruce continues to play as he walks off stage to ear shattering Bruce Calls and applause.

Deep breaths.....Did that just happen?
At list point Im telling myself, If I hear bad this may be the best show of the entire tour.

With or Without you
All because of you
40

There is no room to complain about anything here. But after seeing that Bad and Origional of the Species were on the origional setlist I cant help to think that mny head may have exploded. What a show...what a band...what a city.....what a night.

Thanks U2 you truley never dissappoint and somehow manage to keep reaching new heights. To anyone that actually read this far...thank you too. I apologize if this was difficult to read but I am writing as I am thinking and honestly this show is still in my head making it difficult to work at all this morning let alone type a well thought out review.
