Review
2005-10-17 - Excellent...but not mind-blowing submitted by AlanU2's performance last night at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia was fantastic...and full of energy and excitement - but almost moreso in the audience than in the band. Don't get me wrong, the show was excellent; but the word, "uninspired" comes to mind. Perhaps it was the sound quality, which was just average. Oh it was loud, but the high range overpowered EVERYTHING else and the vocals were mixed all wrong. It was difficult to understand Bono most of the time. Speaking of Bono, he was incredibly charming and engaging and the Philly fans responded with an incredible show of attention, enthusiasm and unity.
It is clear why U2 has been voted "Best Live Act" in the world. They are a major cut above any band I have ever seen over the past 30+ years. Let's just say that last night they didn't seem to be at the top of their game. back
