Review
2005-10-12 - "New Yorkers Crazy Even on a Tuesday Night" submitted by EileenI have been waiting to see U2 ever since the early 80's. I was a fan before they really hit it big in the US, so it was emotional for me on many levels.
It was the best concert I have ever seen. Brilliant musicians. Bono had me in tears with his powerful "Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own" that he dedicated to his dad. In the background of the stage was a huge art rendering of a figure of a man walking during it.He broke into singing a little bit of opera in the middle of it (because as he mentioned before the song began, his father loved it,) which is mentioned in the lyrics.
Bono's voice was strong and they just played magnificently.
Being NY with a large Irish population, the seats and floor actually shook during Sunday Bloody Sunday.
Great time. It's said NY/NJ audiences are the best to play for in the world, and I think it feeds the musicans, which is maybe why Bono said; "New Yorkers Crazy Even on a Tuesday Night"
We all know of the band's humanitarian interests, but even onstage it's shown that U2 has a soul. It may be Irish, but it's universal, connecting to all.
Rock on to one of the best bands in history.
