Review

2005-10-11 - Bad and a full 40 to end the night what could be better submitted by Mike W

I went to 1 show at the Meadowlands in the Spring and have been to about 12 to 14 shows overall. There is only 1 show I would put ahead of this and that was Joshua Tree 1987 also at the Garden.

There is just something about seeing a show in New York City at the Mecca of entertainment Madison Square Garden. The crowd was into it like I have never seen before. I was in GA but not the ellipse. As someone else commented I agree Bono was not out on the ramps as much as in the Spring but he was within inches of us at the center of the ramp a few times so that was all good.

Picked the right show to go to in my opinion. Huge fan of Electric Co. so that was a nice suprise.

You pretty much know what the middle of the show is going to be night after night so it all comes down to what's going to be in the Encore Set or Sets.

Last night brought back Zoo TV which I'm not a huge fan of but the crowd went crazy for it.

Now let me just say right now my 2nd favorite U2 song is Bad and have not heard it live in years so I was praying it would be the final song of the night. So Bono starts talking about dedicating a song to Patti Smith and he goes "This is 40..(I was like ok no Bad once again I'll have to try again tommorow or Friday)then he goes "I mean Bad" well I went Berzerk, I think the guy next to me thought I lost it. What an ending to a show that would have been but wait instead of just a snippet they played a full version of 40 with each member finally walking off alone.

All I can say is U2 is the best live band ever.....the Garden is the ultimate venue to see a show.....money well spent.....can't wait to see them again.
