Review

2005-10-08 - U2 Still trying to find Rock and Roll submitted by PP

The great thing about this show was that it all seemed so relaxed. We had seats behind the stage which were cheaper, I think, than other tix. It did not matter. In fact it was alot more fun to be with folks who were there to hear music and not sit around in expensive great seats, only to spend thier time talking and shouting to themselves about the boring details of their day and never really listening to the music.

U2 Is a band still trying to find the Rock and Roll, they have not settled into a groove and do not rely on their past. In fact before the show last night I would have said that thier 80's songs were thier best, but now I realize that it is thier last Three albums that have the songs I enjoy the most and that say the most in the world we have today. Before I thought that this current album was a miss, but hearing them live last night, made me realize how great those songs are...like a fine wine getting better everyday you listen to these songs and they become richer and fuller.

As I said before, the most extrodinary aspect of the show was the complete relaxed atmosphere. No one was pressing or putting on an act, not the band and not the audience. From opening act to the final song it was as if you had stopped by a local pub or club to see your friends play a few songs and you were thier to have a few brews, dance a little, sing a little and show your support.

It was a great show and I recommend anyone in NY to get thier paws on some back of stage tickets and have a great time.

All the best.
