Review
2005-10-08 - Another great performance from the best show around. submitted by Carlos SolorzanoThe show was amazing. City of Blinding Lights kicked it off at around 9:30. The stage setup was exactly like the stage in the Elavation tour, probably because MSG can't fit the bigger stage from Vertigo.
Notables included an oldie but goodie in Electric Co. and a tribute to the late John lennon as he followed up Beautiful day with bits of Sgt. Pepper's lonley hearts club band, black bird, Many Rivers to cross, and Across the universe.
My favorite part was when they did Miss Sarajevo, which Bono started off by announcing that Lucianno Pavoratti could not be here with us... Then it sounded like he said somebody ele was going to sing his part and he hoped we wliked it. The song was going great then it came time for Lucianno's part, to my surprise Bono sang the tenor's part with surprising ease. The guy's got Opera in his blood, as my wife pointed out.
Some cool moments came as they were doing Sunday Bloody Sunday. Somebody threw the Ireland flag onto his path, which he picked up and carried up to the stage. Halfway through the song, he called for the "stars and strips" and he then said "this song belongs to you now" and finished off the anthem
The encore started off with an acousitc set, which was kicked off with The First Time, which I think sounded much better than the record. Then he dedicated Stuck In A Momoent You Can't get Out Of to his friend, the late Michael Hutchinson of INXS. It was a beautiful rendetion with the crowd singing along acoustically to the first half of the song.
The end came about 4 songs later with With or Without You. A great show, too short as always...
