U2 vocalist Bono praises Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik and Norway for the concern for the poorer nations of the world.

The socially engaged rock star had a private meeting with the Norwegian Prime Minister at his office.

The meeting was scheduled to last for 20 minutes, but the two discussed problems of the developing world, including the famine in Niger and the situation for democracy in Burma for a solid 40 minutes.

Bono said after the meeting that he was humbled and overwhelmed by the Norwegian leadership.

- I am here to meet your Prime Minister and to thank him for Norway's leadership in matters which mean so much to me, namely the poorest of the poor and how a billion people still live on under one dollar a day. It is fantastic to be in this country. I am humbled and overwhelmed by your leadership, Bono said.

Meanwhile, 40,000 Norwegian fans assembled at Oslo's Valle Hovin stadium to enjoy an open air concert by U2 Wednesday evening.
