U2 at the Grammy Awards

The 51st Grammy Awards ceremony took place today, and it was opened by U2. The band performed Get On Your Boots, the first live performance of any song from No Line On The Horizon. At yesterday's rehearsal, the band went through Boots at least five times, attempting to get it right. Today's performance was somewhat raw but energetic. It began with Bono proclaiming "the future needs a big kiss" and a prerecorded intro sampling the "let me in the sound" passage. At the start of the chorus, Bono joined Edge on his "you don't know how beautiful you are" line before moving onto the "you don't know and you don't get it" lyric. Behind the band, the lyrics flashed amidst swirls of colour on a big screen - nonetheless, Bono still managed to make a couple of flubs! After the song finished, Bono announced Whitney Houston, who took the stage to give the Grammy for Best R&B Album.

This article formerly had a link to a YouTube video of U2's performance, but all footage of U2 at this year's Grammys is being aggressively removed from YouTube at present.
