U2 scotch European tour rumours
Posted on Tuesday, March 12 @ 16:39:36 UTC by Macphisto

(NME.com) -- U2 have categorically denied they will play live shows this summer, scotching growing rumours of European dates with OASIS.

A brief posting on the band's website www.u2.com reads: "Stories have been swirling round the net for some time about possible dates in 2002 but contrary to current rumours there'll be no U2 dates this summer."

It had been reported in UK newspapers several weeks ago that U2 and Oasis had lined up 30 European shows for the summer, with dates and venues to be announced in this week. However, a spokesperson for the Irish superstars said today (March 12) that the possibility was "something that they looked into" with nothing coming of it.

In related news, Oasis, as previously reported will release 'The Hindu Times' their first song for 18 months, on April 15.
