U2 are planning an open-air concert in Scotland.

The group have asked the local council about staging a gig at Balloch Park near Loch Lomond.

The park was used by Oasis five years ago, when they played to 80,000 fans over two days.

A West Dumbartonshire Council spokeswoman told the Daily Record: "U2 have made an inquiry to us, asking about details of Balloch Park, ideas of accommodation, numbers etc and we have provided them with that information.

"No dates or final figures have been suggested. So far, it has been a general inquiry about open-air concerts. It is very much at the preliminary stage."
