U2 Looks To What's Next
Posted on Saturday, December 01 @ 02:05:47 CET by Macphisto

After wrapping up the latest North American leg of its Elevation world tour Saturday night (December 1) in Miami, U2 is leaving fans with its new DVD, Elevation 2001: Live From Boston, while the group returns home to Dublin.

What's next on the agenda? There are rumors of more touring in 2002, possibly in Australia, Japan, or South America, but U2 guitarist the Edge tells LAUNCH that the quartet is also ready to start work on a follow-up to 2000's Grammy-winning All That You Can't Leave Behind.

"We're really itching to get back into the studio," he says. "There's something very attractive to us right now about ending the tour during this year and then being able to get back and make another record pretty quick."

As to what that album might sound like, the Edge says it's anybody's guess. "I don't really have a strong feeling about it. I think, almost whenever we go into the studio, we're trying to make the same album--that mythical perfect record--and of course we never do, but that's why we go make another one. And I'd say we'll probably be heading for the studio or in, in to start writing some songs with that exact purpose in mind. I don't know...who knows, maybe we'll do it this time."
