Posted on Tuesday, October 23 @ 12:32:35 CEST by Macphisto

from Launch

(10/22/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- U2's planned appearance at Saturday's (October 20) historic Concert For New York City at the Madison Square Garden was canceled due to "family matters," according to a spokesperson for the group. No other details were divulged.

The group was scheduled to perform its own "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of" as well as team up with Destiny's Child for a version of Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Going On," according to information obtained by LAUNCH prior to the concert.

The Concert For New York City spanned six hours and featured performances by Paul McCartney, the Who, the Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and Elton John, among others.
