Fan Injured At U2 Concert Wins $2.6 Million For Knee Injury
    >Topic: U2 Elevation Tour - News

(Launch.com) -- A fan who slipped in a puddle of urine and water at Soldier Field in Chicago while going for a bathroom break during a U2 concert was awarded $2.6 million on Tuesday (March 12). The man, Steven Chang, broke and disfigured his leg, forcing doctors to move his calf muscle just over his knee.

In determining the award, the jury considered the fact that Chang was active, has disfigurement, underwent costly medical procedures, and had tremendous pain and suffering due to the injury. The jury also validated the award on compensation Chang would have for the rest of the years of his life. Chang had eight surgeries and he now has a noticeable limp due to his shortened left leg.

U2 Played Super Bowl For Free
    >Topic: U2 Elevation Tour - News

AP Music / NEW YORK - Entertainment Weekly reports that U2 played the Super Bowl halftime show for free. The magazine reports that the NFL was willing to pay them but they didn't want any money.

Janet Jackson was the first choice for the halftime show but when NFL bigwigs caught a U2 show in New York City they felt the band would set the right tone for the festivities after Sept. 11.

The report says Mariah Carey and Paul McCartney also were not paid for their services, but the NFL picked up their travel expenses.

More Elevation on the way?
    >Topic: U2 Elevation Tour - News
writes "U2 are set to hit the road again this year just two months after vowing to take a year long break from the music business, I can reveal.

The rockers are planning a few live dates across the world as part of an extended leg of their Elevation tour. BONO was giving little away when we met at the Super Bowl in New Orleans this week but he admitted: "We are still hungry to play live and we have been talking about a few ideas. Performing to 78,000 fans at the Super Bowl was an incredible adrenalin burst and we would like more." "

U2: Perfect fit for Hurry-Up
    >Topic: U2 Elevation Tour - News
writes "The precision required for Super Bowl halftime shows often meant the big stars had to prerecord their singing.

But for Super Bowl XXXVI, getting U2 to perform meant only constructing the band's heart-shaped stage in the space of a commercial break."

U2 give fans a spectacular, spiritually moving half-time show in New Orleans

Was there a football game on TV last night?

At times, it felt more like a star-studded musical tribute to the U.S., with the biggest lineup of entertainers ever in Super Bowl history.

The game, and all the hoopla that surrounded it, was "dedicated to the American spirit" following Sept. 11.
